01

Cloud & DevOps Services

For product companies that need production-grade infrastructure without building a full in-house platform team. We design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms on GCP, AWS, and Azure. Kubernetes and GitOps as standard.

Quality Engineering

For teams where manual QA is the bottleneck and one production incident burns a week of engineering time. We embed quality engineers into your sprint cadence, build automated test suites in Cypress and Playwright, and integrate testing into your CI/CD pipeline.

Why SH

Why Product Companies Choose SH for Platform Engineering

3 reasons CTOs and VPs of Engineering sign with us instead of building in-house or going to a generalist consultancy.

Production Track Record

We've built and operated infrastructure for Siemens, PwC, Toyota, and Rainbow Tours under enterprise compliance requirements. Cloud-native platforms serving 200,000+ daily users, microservices architectures across 60+ countries, and CI/CD pipelines shipping multiple times per day. Production isn't an aspiration. It's the only mode we work in.

AI-Augmented Engineering

Our platform engineers use internal AI tooling to accelerate infrastructure setup, test generation, and incident response. Faster delivery, no shortcuts. The same engineering depth, applied at higher speed.

Compliance Built In

ISO 27001 certified. We deliver under GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, DORA, and NIS2 depending on your industry. Compliance Preparation is available as a standalone service or as part of any infrastructure engagement. We map the gaps, configure the controls, and produce the evidence your auditors need.

Infrastructure problems are business problems. When your cloud bill is unpredictable, your deployments are slow, or your team is blocked waiting for environment access, that's lost time and lost revenue. We've built the infrastructure for Siemens, PwC, and Toyota, and we bring the same standard to every client we work with.

FAQ Platform Engineering

What is platform engineering and when do I need it?

Platform engineering is the discipline of designing, building, and operating the infrastructure and tooling your engineering teams use to ship software. It covers cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, internal developer platforms, security, and increasingly quality engineering. You need platform engineering when "waiting for DevOps" is a recurring complaint in retrospectives, when cloud bills grow faster than revenue, when deployments take hours of manual work, or when production incidents keep your team firefighting instead of building. SH delivers platform engineering for product companies with 20 to 500 engineers, scaled to where you actually are.

What's the difference between DevOps and Platform Engineering?

DevOps is a culture and set of practices for shipping software faster and more reliably. Platform Engineering is the productization of those practices into a self-service platform your engineering teams consume. A DevOps engineer fixes infrastructure issues on demand. A platform engineering team builds the platform that lets every product engineer provision environments, deploy services, and run tests without filing a ticket. DevOps as a Service at SH covers operational work. Platform Engineering builds the Internal Developer Platform that replaces those tickets entirely. Most organizations need both, in that order: stable DevOps first, then a platform on top.

When does my team need an Internal Developer Platform (IDP)?

An Internal Developer Platform makes sense when you have 20 or more engineers, multiple product teams, or when "waiting for DevOps" is a recurring complaint in engineering retrospectives. Below 20 engineers, the cost of building and maintaining an IDP exceeds the benefit. Above 20, the cost of not having one shows up in delayed releases, inconsistent environments, and developer time spent on infrastructure work instead of product work. We design and build IDPs grounded in your existing stack, with self-service environments, deployments, and infrastructure within governance boundaries you define. Backstage is a common foundation, but the right choice depends on your team and constraints.

How do I reduce cloud costs without changing architecture?

Cloud cost reduction starts with visibility. Most cloud waste comes from idle resources, over-provisioned instances, and untracked spend across teams. Our FinOps Deep-Dive engagement is a standalone audit focused entirely on this. We map your current spend, identify waste, right-size resources, implement changes, and document the outcome. Clients typically see 20 to 40% cost reduction without touching application architecture. Ongoing FinOps reviews are included in our DevOps as a Service Growth and Enterprise tiers, so the savings compound month over month.

What's the difference between Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering?

Quality Assurance is traditionally a phase at the end of development: manual testers verify functionality, log bugs, and gate releases. Quality Engineering is QA reimagined as an engineering discipline embedded in development. Quality engineers write automated tests in Cypress and Playwright, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, run performance and security testing as part of every release, and work inside sprint cycles with developers. The shift matters because manual QA can't keep up with modern release cadences. SH delivers Quality Engineering: testing automated, integrated, and run by engineers who think like developers, not gate-keepers.

How do you handle compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001) in platform engineering?

Compliance is built into how we ship, not added at the end. We're ISO 27001 certified and deliver under GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001, DORA, and NIS2 depending on your industry. Compliance Preparation is available as a standalone service or as part of any infrastructure engagement. We map the gaps against your target framework, configure the controls in your environment, and produce the documentation and evidence your auditors need. We've delivered compliance work for fintech, healthcare, and regulated enterprise clients including Siemens Financial Services.

Should we build our own IDP or buy a platform like Backstage?

The honest answer: most teams shouldn't build their IDP from scratch. Backstage (from Spotify) is the most mature open-source platform and the right starting point for most product companies. The work isn't choosing between build and buy. It's deciding what to build on top of Backstage, which plugins to use, how to integrate with your cloud and CI/CD, and how to govern self-service access. SH delivers Backstage-based IDPs configured to your stack, your team structure, and your compliance constraints. Pure greenfield IDPs make sense only for organizations with extremely specific needs and the engineering capacity to maintain a custom platform long-term.

We build what comes next.
